Koch Supply & Trading's marine logistics operation, Koch Shipping Inc., seeks to ensure that commodities bought and sold by its companies safely arrive at the right places at the right times. Koch Shipping coordinates with KS&T's cargo operations, and also uses innovative Web-based scheduling tools, including Amphora, to efficiently manage crude and product flow. With KS&T traders, Koch Shipping also captures economies of scale by selling parts of cargo space to others through its transshipment and break-bulk operations.
In the past five years, Koch Shipping has safely managed about 3,100 charters moving more than a billion barrels of crude, petroleum products, chemicals and nitrogen fertilizers. Koch Shipping's operations managers review performance of tankers long before a drop of product reaches their hulls. This strict vetting process is designed to ensure known-quality tank vessels are available for use.
