Information We Collect by Automated Means
We collect certain information by automated means when you visit our websites. By collecting this information, we learn how to best tailor our websites to our visitors. We collect this information through various means such as “cookies,” “web beacons”, and “IP addresses” as explained below.
Cookies
Like many companies, we use “cookies” on our websites. Cookies are bits of text that are placed on your computer's hard drive when you visit certain websites. We use the information collected from these cookies to compile reports and help us improve the website. For example, a cookie might tell us whether you have visited us before, the number of visitors to the website, which site a visitor has come from, the pages they visited, and to help us identify site features in which you may have the greatest interest. Cookies may enhance your online experience by saving your preferences while you are visiting a particular site.
Most browsers will tell you how to stop accepting new cookies, how to be notified when you receive a new cookie, and how to disable existing cookies. Please note, however, that without cookies you may not be able to take full advantage of all our website features.
Web Beacons
Certain pages on our websites contain “web beacons” (also known as internet tags, pixel tags and clear GIFs). These web beacons allow us to obtain information such as the IP address of the computer that downloaded the page on which the beacon appears, the URL of the page on which the beacon appears, the time the page containing the beacon was viewed, the type of browser used to view the page, and the information in cookies set by the third-party.
IP Addresses
An IP address is a unique identifier that certain electronic devices use to identify and communicate with each other on the Internet. When you visit our websites, we may view and/or store the IP address of the device you use to connect to the Internet. We use this information to determine the general physical location of the device and understand from what regions of the world our website visitors come from. We also may use this information to enhance our websites.
Information We Share
We do not sell or otherwise disclose personal information except as described here. We may share the information you provide with our affiliates. We also may share the information with service providers we have retained to perform services on our behalf. These service providers are not authorized by us to use or disclose the information except as necessary to perform services on our behalf or comply with legal requirements. In addition, we may disclose information about you: (1) if we are required to do so by law or legal process; (2) to law enforcement authorities or other government officials; (3) when we believe disclosure is necessary or appropriate to prevent physical harm or financial loss or in connection with an investigation of suspected or actual illegal activity; or (4) in order to enforce or apply our Terms of Use and other agreements or to protect the rights, property, or safety of KS&T, our customers, or others.
We reserve the right to transfer any information we have about you in the event we sell or transfer all or a portion of our business or assets. Should such a sale or transfer occur, we will use reasonable efforts to direct the transferee to use information you have provided in a manner that is consistent with this Privacy Policy.
User-generated Content
Some of our services and social networking features may enable you to submit your own content for public posting. Information you post in this fashion becomes public information and is not subject to this Privacy Policy. Certain areas of our websites may enable users to submit personal information to KS&T. Such information will be used in accordance with the website’s Privacy Policy. Postings, letters, and other submissions become the property of KS&T and may be reproduced in whole or in part, including your name, for any purpose and in any manner.
Links to Other Sites
Our websites and communications may provide links to other websites, including to social networks or partners that may use our logo(s) as part of a co-branding agreement. To the extent that any linked services are not provided by KS&T or covered by a Privacy Policy we do not control, recommend, or endorse and we are not responsible for these services or their privacy policies or practices. To the extent any linked websites you visit are not part of KS&T, we are not responsible for their content, any use of the sites, or the privacy practices of the sites.
How We Protect Personal Information
In proportion to the sensitivity of the information, we maintain reasonable administrative, technical and/or physical safeguards and appropriate security measures to protect personal information from loss, misuse or unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction of the information you provide. However, no electronic data transmission or storage of information can be completely secure. Although we will do our best to protect your personal information we cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us or that we acquire. Accordingly, you must use our services at your own risk.
